Analysis of specific techniques

'Glory' by Bastille

Editing:
The music video uses text to create a slightly different narrative to the one the videos are showing. The video clips show a road trip between a couple, but through the use of added text the audience see they are having a conversation looking back on the trip. Multiple times they will discuss remembering things different ways and both versions are shown. This creates a sense of nostalgia rather than a sense of adventure and experience.

'In My Blood' by Shawn Mendes and 'Would You Mind?' by Friday Pilots Club

Continuous shot:
Both of these music videos used the technique of one continuous shot to show the narrative. In both there is only one location and no static shots. This technique is easy to do and effective but requires a lot of planning and would not work for my music video as there is only one location.

'Whatever It Takes" by Imagine Dragons

Link between the music and editing:
The music video follows closely to the song for example-
00.28 the chorus begins and the lights turn on
00.42 the main part of the chorus begins and the ceiling starts to fall down
01.11 the second verse begins and the room starts to rain
03.00 the final chorus begins and the video swaps from underwater to a setting on fire
The video becomes more visually pleasing for the audience, it emphasises the most intense parts of the song.
