Three-act structure
The Three-act structure is a structure used in narrative texts that divides a story into three parts. It consists of the Setup, the Confrontation and the Resolution.
The Setup:
The Setup:
- Establishes main characters
- Their relationships
- The environment
- A question/ quest is set up to represent what will happen in the rest of the film
- Protagonist's first attempt to resolve the problem
- Which worsens the situation
- This may be they don't have the skills required
- They then learn the new skills which grows their awareness of who they are, this is known as the Character Arc
- Features the resolution of the story
- The dramatic question is answered
- A sense of moral purpose is restored
