Varitations in newspapers
In todays lesson we compared the same news story from different news papers. I choose a article about a earthquake in Mexico that happened the night before and used the Independent and the Daily mail.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/mexico-city-earthquake-latest-today-death-toll-rises-interior-minister-a7956496.html
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4900334/Strong-7-4-quake-hits-Mexico-anniversary-deadly-1985-tremor.html
Differences between the two articles:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4900334/Strong-7-4-quake-hits-Mexico-anniversary-deadly-1985-tremor.html
Differences between the two articles:
- Both articles have slightly different statistics, for example the Independent states that at least 216 people died whilst the Daily Mail says at least 248 were killed.
- The Daily mail includes more photos and videos.
- The Daily mail includes a map showing where the earthquake took place.
- The Daily mail discusses the school collapsing in the title whilst the Independent doesn't.
- The Daily mail includes a quote from someone in the earthquake.
- The Independent links to more articles about the earthquake.
- The Daily mail includes a timeline about Mexico's most deadly earthquakes.
- The Independent has less detail and the Daily mail is more informative.
- Both articles include photos.
- Both articles include Donald Trump's tweet to the people affected by the earthquake.

- Both articles discuss the tragedy that a school collapsed killing 20 children.
- Both articles include the magnitude of the earthquake in the headline.
- Both articles include videos.
- Both articles are on the websites front page, however, the Independent has it near the top whilst the Daily mail was more hidden below more articles.
- Both articles have other articles on the sides.
